Can the Kansas City Chiefs three-peat?
Just months removed from their second consecutive Super Bowl championship, Andy Reid and co. are already preparing the club for a potential three-peat.
In Jordan Reid of ESPN‘s latest seven-round mock draft, the Chiefs will begin their road to another Lombardi Trophy with a bang as they’re projected to trade picks 32, 95, and 159 to the Dallas Cowboys for pick 24, where they’ll bring in a brand-new toy for Patrick Mahomes in the form of Texas wideout, Adonai Mitchell.
Kansas City Chiefs’ Explosive Seven-Round Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 24 (via mocked trade with Dallas): Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
“Mitchell is a perfect fit in the Chiefs’ scheme and can play inside or outside for them. He’s one of the most efficient receivers in this class, as 82% of his catches last season went for either a first down or a touchdown. I was impressed with his combine performance, too. He’d be a dynamic downfield option for Mahomes. Plus, after the Chiefs had 38 drops in 2023, Mitchell’s sure hands would be welcomed. He had just five drops over his 35-game college career.”
Round 2, Pick 64: Dominick Puni, OL, Kansas
“There are many scouts who believe Puni could play all five positions up front. But if they target him on Day 2, I think the Chiefs might opt to at least try him at tackle before potentially moving him inside. He didn’t allow a sack over two seasons as a starter.”
As the Kansas City Chiefs and any solidly ran organization knows, day three of the NFL Draft could be just as important as the first round. In rounds four through seven, ESPN projects the defending champions to pick up Arizona tight end, Tanner McLachlan (131), Miami center, Matt Lee (159), South Dakota cornerback, Myles Harden (173), and Utah safety, Sione Vaki (221).
