Jameis Winston has become one of the true gems of the NFL. From his wild intense press conferences and seemingly always positive attitude, to his sideline antics and countless things he’s said that have left fans speechless, the veteran QB is truly one of a kind.
Before free agency got underway earlier this month,Winston said that he loved playing for the Saints but that he still harbored hopes of being a starting quarterback in the NFL.
Winston did not land a starting job once he hit the open market, but he did land as a backup to a quarterback who has missed a lot of time over the last two years. Suspensions and injuries have limited Deshaun Watson to 12 starts over two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
Watson is expected to start throwing soon as he continues rehabbing from the right shoulder injury that ended his 2023 season and Winston told reporters on Wednesday that his goal of starting games won’t get in the way of him doing all he can to support Watson.
“The most important thing, I believe, is the relationship between me and Deshaun is in a place where it will continue to grow and flourish,” Jameis Winston said, via Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal.
“I just admire him as a person and, definitely, as a football player. I look forward to allowing him to lean on me for anything that he needs. And also encouraging him and providing him with different resources that he probably hasn’t gotten from people who have been in the same room as him.”
When Watson was injured last season, the Browns played P.J. Walker and Dorian Thompson-Robinson before signing Joe Flacco off his couch.
Flacco exceeded all expectations by taking the Browns to the playoffs and winning the NFL comeback player of the year award, but the signings of Winston and Tyler Huntley show that the Browns don’t want to scramble again this year in the event Watson remains more of a spectator than a contributor.
Jameis Winston Hilariously Takes Snaps In Khakis And Overcoat Ahead Of Opening Cleveland Browns Press Conference
Nothing Winston does should surprise NFL fans at this point, but the former Saints QB didn’t take long before making himself right at home at the Browns complex and bringing his one-of-a-kind personality into the facility.
A fan snapped a video of the new Cleveland Browns backup QB literally taking snaps, in full speed from an actual center (or it sure looks like one) as he wears full khakis, dress shoes and an overcoat just moments before he took the podium before his opening press conference in his new city.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IN THIS WORLD TOPS BEING AROUND PEOPLE WHO "LOVEEEEEEE" THE GAME! I PRAY DAILY THAT GOD SENDS ME PEOPLE LIKE JAMEIS WHO REALLY ARE GRATEFUL WITH THEIR ACTIONS, AND NOT WITH THIER MOUTH!!! HE IS TRULY ABOUT THIS LIFE….WOW!!!#MDFNATION@antonorwins @Browns pic.twitter.com/m4QFM5bCqx

This shouldn’t surprise anyone who has followed the NFL and Jamies Winston by this point. It’s just who he is.
Fans immediately chimed in, reacting to Winston’s introduction to the Cleveland Browns.
“Jameis getting the business attire snaps,” a fan noted.
“Jameis is out of control man,” Jordan Zirm of Sporting News said.
“Jamies already a browns legend,” a fan wrote.
“Already working. We found something,” a fan claimed.
The Browns signed Winston as an insurance plan behind Deshaun Watson. Winston said he’s eager to build a rapport with Watson, whom the Browns acquired amid dozens of sexual misconduct allegations by massage therapists.
While the Cleveland Browns don’t need anymore distractions, they now have a backup QB with a light-hearted personality who can win some games if Watson can’t stay healthy, It seems like a great situation all around.
