Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick trended on social media Wednesday following a clip going viral of Aaron Rodgers’ comments on the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The video went viral Tuesday from a Look Into It podcast Rodgers did in March.
Aaron Rodgers made strong comments about the HIV/AIDS epidemic
As previously discussed on GH, Rodgers suggested the US government created the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s:
Rodgers said the epidemic was a “blueprint” for how the government would operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Per the transcript of Rodgers’ comments via The Daily Mail:
‘Create a pandemic, with a virus that’s going wild,’ he continued. ‘Fauci was given over $350 million to research this, to come up with drugs, new or repurposed to handle the AIDS pandemic. And all they came up with was AZT,’ Rodgers continued.
‘And if you do even a smidge of research — and I know, I’m not an epidemiologist, I’m not a doctor, I’m not an immunologist, whatever – I can read, though. And I can learn and look things up just like any normal person. I can do my own research, which is so vilified, to even question authority.’
Former San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick trends
Kaepernick trended Wednesday afternoon in connection to Rodger’s comments. Many people pointed out Kaepernick was blackballed from the league for taking a knee to protest the US government, specifically police brutality. They don’t understand why NFL owners had a problem with Kaepernick’s political commentary but Rodgers can get away with spewing anti-US-government propaganda.
Of course, many people would argue protesting against police is much different than other government bureaucrats. Not only are the politics different, but Rodgers is a better quarterback than Kaepernick. Is it fair? Probably not, but that’s business.
Here is a sample of some of the takes on Kaepernick and Rodgers being treated differently for being politically active while acting as NFL ambassadors.
The dialogues in the Black community are very different from other communities. This is an understood thing in many Black spaces.

So cool that the NFL effectively blacklisted Colin Kaepernick for his racial justice stances. But Aaron Rodgers can spout reckless conspiracies about HIV, Sandy Hook, etc, and continue to be one of the highest-paid players in the league. https://t.co/qioO2yqyfw

If Kaepernick said what Rodgers did, you would hate him. And vice versa. Its got nothing to do with black and white “communities”

Ask Colin Kaepernick, I’ll bet you a million bucks he agrees with Rodgers on every single point he is making here. LOL.

And yet the NFL wouldn’t sign Colin Kaepernick because he was too controversial.🤣
Aaron Rodgers, please leave your brain to science so we can study it. There must be something we can actually learn from you. https://t.co/8vpFTWUfgh

Imagine comparing Kaepernick to Rodgers. 🤣🤣🤣 You can try to make it a race thing, but in reality, Rodgers is one of the greatest QBs of all time. If Kaepernick was half the QB Rodgers was, he’d be playing in the league.

yes talent allows you leeway. if Kaepernick put up Aaron Rodgers numbers it wouldn't have mattered if he wore a BLM sticker over his nameplate on his jersey.
