The Cleveland Browns are fresh off a playoff berth in 2023 despite losing their franchise quarterback, Deshaun Watson, midway through the season. The polarizing gunslinger, Watson, signed a massive five-year, $230 million deal with Cleveland after being traded from the Houston Texans in 2022. He entered the 2023 season at full strength after serving an 11-game suspension the year prior. Watson sat out the entirety of the 2021 season, and the majority of the 2022 campaign after 23 suits of sexual assault came to light against the former Clemson Tigers standout.
Watson’s legal issues resulted in significant financial consequences, with him paying millions of dollars in settlements and league fines. Despite this, the Browns were undeterred and signed him to one of the most significant contracts in NFL history. Saudi Arabia, too, seemed unfazed by Watson’s legal history, hosting him on a recent visit to their country. According to Front Office Sports, Saudi Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad warmly welcomed Watson earlier this month.

Bin Mosaad, a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan, replied, “I wish you and your family health and happiness; I wish you the best of luck in every game you play except when you play against you know who!” Mosaad helped create the LIV in golf and owns the English Premier League team Sheffield United.
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson: Looking for Injury-Free Season
After Missing nearly two seasons while entangled with 23 sexual assault suits, Watson returned to the gridiron in 2023 with no limitations. However, injuries quickly derailed his season, and he played only six games for the second straight season. The former first-round pick threw for 1,115 yards, seven touchdowns, and four picks while leading Cleveland to a 5-1 record.
The Browns struggled to replace Watson via Dorian Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker, with the duo throwing for just two touchdowns against nine interceptions. However, the AFC North club inked former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco late in the season. Flacco played well, throwing for 1,616 yards and 13 touchdowns across five games. The Browns earned an AFC Wild Card berth but fell to the Houston Texans, 45-14, in the first round of the postseason.
