The Buffalo Bills will have a new look wide receiver core in 2024. Buffalo parted ways with former superstar wideout Stefon Diggs via trade earlier this month, while his fellow pass-catcher, Gabe Davis, inked a three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bills still need to replace their production, but they have made two depth-piece acquisitions with Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel.
The AFC East club could continue to look at free agents to round out their receiver room or burn a draft pick on a wideout in the loaded 2024 draft class. With the 2024 NFL draft just weeks away, the Bills hosted one of the fastest incoming rookies, former Oregon Ducks wideout Troy Franklin, on a visit.
Former Oregon Ducks WR Troy Franklin: Visits Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills hosted top NFL draft prospect Troy Franklin on Friday. The speedster also visited New England, Carolina, Cleveland, and New York (Jets). Per NFL Draft Buzz, Franklin is rated as the sixth-best wide receiver in the upcoming draft.
Franklin played collegiately at Oregon, where he spent three seasons. He caught 18 passes for 209 yards and two scores as a freshman. The former four-star recruit more than doubled his production the following season, catching 61 passes for 891 yards and nine touchdowns. Franklin posted his best season last year, catching a near Pac-12-best 81 passes for 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Franklin shined at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, running a 4.41 40-yard dash and posting a 39-inch vertical jump. Franklin currently projects as a late first-round draft pick, with Buffalo housing the 28th overall selection.
Buffalo Bills: New Look WR Room
For the first time since 2020, the Buffalo Bills will not deploy the dynamic duo of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Davis caught 27 touchdowns in a four-year span with the Bills. Meanwhile, Diggs earned All-Pro honors in 2020 and made the Pro Bowl each season with the team.
Justin Shorter and Khalil Shakir are the top wideout returners for the 2024 Buffalo squad. Shorter did not record a reception last season, while Shakir, a former fifth-round selection, snagged 39 passes for 611 yards and two scores.
