The Zay Jones saga has finally come to a conclusion!
Zay Jones Taking Time To Find New Home

After being initially dismissed as a borderline bust following his selection with the 37th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills when he was traded to the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders in 2019, back-to-back impressive seasons in Las Vegas and then Jacksonville in 2021 and 2022 lead to a resurgence in his value to the league.
Many were skeptical when the Jaguars signed Jones to a 3 year, $24 million deal back in 2022. However, an 823 yard, 5 touchdown season that same year hushed those same doubters, making the former East Carolina wideout’s deal look like one of the steals of free agency.
Yet, he was unable to replicate that same kind of production this past season, putting up just 274 receiving yards as franchise quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, made new signing, and now Tennessee Titan, Calvin Ridley, his preferred target alongside #1 receiver, Christian Kirk – leading to his ultimate release two weeks ago.
And having taken visits with the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs, the former 2nd round receiver entering his 8th year in the league has finally made his decision, per Ian Rapoport.
Arizona and Zay Jones have agreed to terms on a 1-year deal worth up to $4.25M, per me and @TomPelissero.
The deal negotiated by Zeke Sandhu of @KlutchSports ends a whirlwind free agency for Jones, who was released by the #Jaguars after the Draft. https://t.co/cEe5idUKS0

Zay Jones Signing With The Arizona Cardinals

Landing with the Arizona Cardinals seems to be a fairly smart business decision for Zay Jones.
Although he is coming to an organization coming off a fairly unimpressive 4-13 season, capital-building drafts over the past two seasons seem to put together the possibility of a fairly quick turnaround, under the stewardship of GM, Monti Ossenfort.
Zay Jones was never vying to be the primary wideout for any team. Yet, in Arizona, after recent 4th overall pick, Marvin Harrison Jr., who is expected to headline the receiving corps for, potentially, years to come, Jones has a bona fide opportunity to be the 2nd or 3rd option on the NFC West franchise alongside 2023 3rd round pick, Michael Wilson.
With a quarterback that has irrefutable talent and a roster that seems surprisingly well put together given the ensuing past 2 seasons of misery, Zay Jones could well have put himself in a position to be an important piece of a team that surprises many in 2024.
