The Dallas Cowboys revealed troubling news Wednesday on three key players, two of them starters, ahead of their matchup against the New York Giants in Week 1. The Cowboys enter the season with high expectations in 2023. But they can only go so far as their health will allow.

Per Patrik Walker, the Dallas Cowboys had three players no participating in practice Wednesday: Tyler Smith (hamstring), Sam Williams (foot), and Donovan Wilson (Calf). Jourdan Lewis was listed on the report with a foot but was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

Smith and Wilson are starters this season. Williams is the backup defensive end.

    We have arrived, folks.

The first official #Cowboys injury report of the 2023 season is here. As expected, Tyler Smith joined Sam Williams and Donovan Wilson with rehab group.

According to Michael Gehlken with the Dallas Morning News, head coach Mike McCarthy said the Cowboys are hoping Smith and Wilson can practice later this week.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said LG Tyler Smith (hamstring) and S Donovan Wilson (calf) won’t practice today, working instead with director of rehabilitation Britt Brown. The Cowboys’ injury report is much shorter than their rival, the Giants reads today. However, all seven names listed on the Giants’ injury report were limited in practice Wednesday. It’ll be interesting to see who can return to practice for both teams by the end of the week.
