On a day when the Chicago Bears were officially eliminated from the playoffs, there was a decided buzz of optimism in the air at Soldier Field and a level of positivity that hasn’t bear-hugged the club in a very long time.
The players felt it, the media felt it, and, maybe most of all, the fans felt it. With so much uncertainty in the air regarding the team’s direction and a clinched no. 1 draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft that, in some eyes, seems to almost force a change to be made at quarterback, the loyal Bears fandom appears to be in fierce support of staying the course with Justin Fields.
In Sunday’s impressive 37-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, in the team’s last home game of the season, the fans voiced their collective opinion on the “should he stay or should he go” Fields drama.
“We Want Fields!”
During the game, as news came out that the Bears’ officially bagged the no. 1 draft pick via the Carolina Panthers, Bears fans in attendance broke out with spontaneous “We Want Fields” chants in support of their starting quarterback, who has stepped up his game mightily over the last several games and pulled off a few brilliant performances in this last outing.

Fields Responds to Chicago Bears Fan Support
The 24-year-old Fields, himself, would hear the chants and offer his post-game response.
“This city’s amazing, like I’ve said plenty of times,” Fields told CBS Sports. “The city, the people and, really, just the fan base. Everybody, bro, it’s crazy, so…Last home game at Soldier Field this year, you couldn’t have it any better– snowing– it’s awesome. Just the atmosphere with everybody, the crowd, you know, how we ended things and finished the game off. I’m gonna remember this for the rest of my life…I’m thankful for all of it.”

Some felt that Sunday’s game against the Falcons was a tryout of sorts, ahead of a rumored trade to bring Fields to Atlanta. Rumors have actually been rampant about teams looking to acquire the 3-year veteran and about the Bears testing the waters as to what they might get in return for the talented QB. Aside from the Falcons, the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and Minnesota Vikings have all been mentioned as interested parties when it comes to Justin Fields and potential trade partners for the Bears. Most experts seem to believe that Fields would bag Chicago a second round pick, plus some other draft consideration.
Time will tell what the Bears decide when it comes to quarterback Fields. At the moment, however, he appears to have become a People’s Champ of sorts. Moving him may not be the popular decisions it once would’ve been.
