The Washington Commanders have successfully managed to prevent their assistant quarterbacks coach, David Blough, from interviewing with the New York Jets. The Jets, who recently hired Aaron Glenn as their head coach, are re-doing their coaching team, and are seeking to add more talented officials to their squad.
However, the Washington Commanders seem intent on keeping Blough on their squad, hoping to improve their performance in the 2025 NFL season. The Commanders finished second in the NFC East with 12 wins and five defeats. The Commanders were officially kicked out of the tournament after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game, 55-23.

David Blough joined the Washington Commanders in 2024 as their assistant quarterbacks coach, under head coach Dan Quinn. Blough brings plenty of playing experience to the Commanders, after playing in the NFL from 2019 to 2023. His longest time was with the Detroit Lions, where he played from 2019 to 2021. Before the NFL, Blough played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers from 2014 to 2018.
Washington Commanders To Work On Jayden Daniels During Offseason
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders have a long to-do list during the offseason. The no. 1 job for the Commanders will be to work on quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels joined the team for the 2024 NFL season and threw for 3,568 yards, scoring 25 touchdowns, with nine interceptions.
Daniels was the second pick of the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft and was selected by the Commanders. Before the NFL, Daniels played for Arizona State University from 2019 to 2021, and then for LSU from 2022 to 2023. The quarterback is certainly a talented player, but the Commanders are yet to work with him to tap his fullest potential.
The Washington Commanders might also need to get rid of unnecessary players who are not contributing much in the team, while also ensuring that Terry McLaurin continues to play for the team, mainly along with quarterback Daniels.
In the most recent NFL season, McLaurin and QB Jayden Daniels created a stunning partnership, and this needs to definitely be stepped up if the Commanders want to improve their performance in the 2025 NFL season. Interestingly, McLaurin has only one year remaining in his contract, and this needs to be extended if the Commanders want to make the best use of the partnership with Daniels.
