It’s that time of year again, when fall is in the air, Halloween is looming right around the corner, and “Scary Terry” McLaurin comes out to play. Monday Night Football matchup did not disappoint in Week 3. Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels put on a show, and in many ways, challenged or set NFL records as he became the first rookie quarterback to have a completion percentage of 91.3% in a single game.

The performance not only led the Washington Commanders to a 38-33 upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals. It also set a rookie record completion percentage in a single game with at least 20 passing attempts. The former record was set by Dak Prescott, at 88.9% in a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2016.
Daniels’ stats were nothing short of impressive: 21 of 23 for 254 yards and two touchdowns, as well as a quarterback passer rating of 141.7. Further, Daniels added his dual-threat capabilities by rushing for 39 yards and adding another touchdown, making him a force to be reckoned with both in the air and on the ground.
Though he had a chance at an early deep shot to Terry McLaurin, which he sailed out, Daniels relaxed, threw darts the rest of the game, and displayed exceptional composure in the pocket. His ball placement was on full display late in the game, especially when he hit “Scary Terry” McLaurin on a 3rd and 7 in the end zone which essentially sealed the win.
As NFL researcher Tony Holzman-Escareno pointed out: Since the ’50s, no NFL player has more than 250 passing yards, two TDs through the air, one on the ground, and at least 90% accuracy in a game, till Daniels.
Players to throw for 250 yards and 2 TD, have a rush TD, and complete 90 percent of his passes in a single game since at least 1950:

That victory for the Commanders wasn’t just a message for the rest of the league but more of a coming-out party for Daniels. He’s definitely a rookie to watch out for this season, as he showed the ability to perform on one of the biggest stages in front of “All My Rowdy Friends”.
Washington Commanders Rival: Ja’Marr Chase couldn’t deny it.

As Daniels put it himself, “I’m a competitor. I wanna compete at the highest level.” And after this game, it’s clear that he’s doing just that.
