In a game where both teams were down their number one receivers. The two teams went to the wire, Jauan Jennings stepped to the forefront, even if the San Francisco 49ers fell short against the Los Angeles Rams. The final result was 27-24 with the Rams getting a last-second field goal. But make no mistake, this game belongs to Jauan Jennings. Jennings really showed that he is a playmaker, with a stat line of 11 rec/12 targets, 175 total receiving yards, 15.9 average yards per reception, and 3 touchdowns. A beautiful catch of 34 yards in a game where the defense was left in the dust.
Jennings wasn’t just good; he was phenomenal. Every time he received the ball he turned up the field with intentions giving Rams defenders a glimpse of power, speed, and balance. Jennings could be the best pass-catching option on the 49ers roster, but for whatever reason, his name barely gets mentioned at all. Why is he not getting the attention he deserves?
San Francisco 49ers Over Paid Brandon Aiyuk
Enter Brandon Aiyuk. Aiyuk is an incredible receiver in his own right and recently signed a four-year $120 million contract to become the go-to guy for the 49ers. But here’s the thing – watching Jennings on Sunday, it’s interesting to think if the team made the right decision, extending his contract. They could have offered more for Jennings and locked him down for future seasons, invested much less, or even moved on from Aiyuk.

Jennings has generally impressed us with his ability to make tough catches. Hence his nickname, “3rd and Jauan”. Converting short gains has been a staple for him and always could stretch the field into big plays. All of this proves that he’s more than capable of being a starter on the 49ers receiving corp. He doesn’t merely catch passes; he catches passes with passion, desire, and intensity that says, “I belong.”
The 49ers may have lost the game, but they might have discovered something far more valuable. If Sunday’s performance is any indication, Jauan Jennings is the player they should’ve paid. For now, we’ll continue to watch and marvel as he carves out his place in this league – one spectacular game at a time.
