The Washington Commanders are just in the process of rebuilding the roster for the long term. What did at the NFL trade deadline last year and what they also did last offseason is just the beginning. There will be many other players on the Washington Commanders roster who will be floated around in trade rumors this season.
Washington still has many holes on the roster that general manager Adam Peters will have to fix. He started fixing the roster through the NFL Draft. Peters selected quarterback Jayden Daniels from LSU with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
There were some other players that the Washington Commanders found during the 2024 NFL Draft. Washington will have other players that they may need to trade during the 2024 season if they are out of the playoff picture by the NFL trade deadline.
Washington Commanders Linebacker Jamin Davis Could Be a Trade Candidate At the NFL Trade Deadline By Bleacher Report
Bleacher Report writer Alex Ballentine mentioned in an article about five different NFL teams who could be aggressive sellers this season and one of those teams is the Washington Commanders. One of the players that Washington could trade at the deadline is former first-round pick linebacker Jamin Davis.
Ballentine said:
“Jamin Davis could also be a movable piece. The former first-round pick is a free agent next offseason and the Commanders didn’t exactly show they value him by bringing in both Wagner and Frankie Luvu in free agency this offseason.”
Davis was drafted in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. In the 4-3 defense played by the Washington Commanders, he is projected to be one of the starting linebackers this season. This defense did not play very well a season ago.
A season ago, Jamin Davis played in 16 games. He recorded 76 tackles, one sack, and one pass deflection. Davis will need to be much better in his fourth NFL season. He had much better stats during his second NFL season and regressed a season ago.
A new head coach and maybe a new defensive scheme could help Jamin Davis this season. If he plays well for the Washington Commanders and if they don’t plan to keep him around long-term, they could get some quality draft capital for him.
There will be teams that will need linebacker help at the NFL trade deadline this season. He is only 25 years old.
