The Washington Commanders will be facing a big year in 2024. Washington finished with a 4-13 record last season and it caused them to make wholesale changes to the organization. The Commanders have not won a playoff game in nearly two decades.
The offense and the defense were not on the same page a season ago. Washington hopes new head coach Dan Quinn will provide a new spark to the franchise. He had a very good defense when he was the defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys.

Quinn hopes to make the Washington Commanders into a better defense. Some defensive players will need to play better this season compared to last season.
Washington Commanders Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. Will Need To Be Better In His Second Season

Forbes Jr. last season with the Washington Commanders during his rookie season recorded 38 tackles, one interception, and 11 pass deflections. He was the 16th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State.
Dean Jones of Riggo’s Rag thinks that the Commanders’ second-year corner is facing a critical season for them. He said:
“Emmanuel Forbes is going to get more leeway than most given his first-round status. But after an underwhelming first season from the cornerback, imposing his will is paramount entering a critical Year 2 of his professional environment.
The Washington Commanders’ previous regime thought highly of Forbes. He was their primary target from a long way out at No. 16 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. They were convinced his ball-hawking capabilities in college could easily transition to the pros despite his lack of size.
On first impressions, they were wrong. Forbes was bullied almost constantly and exposed as a weak link. This left many fans wondering if he’d end up becoming the latest in a long line of draft busts that became synonymous with Ron Rivera’s time at the helm.
Forbes has a lot of hard work ahead, but giving up on him this early is not an option. Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt Jr. have a prolific reputation when it comes to nurturing defensive backs and helping them exceed expectations. If they have the same effect on the former Mississippi State star, all hope is not lost.”
Emmanuel Forbes will be one of the starting cornerbacks on the Washington Commanders roster this season. Benjamin St.-Juste is projected to be the other starting cornerback on Washington’s roster this season.

If Forbes does not play better this season, the Commanders might need to take a cornerback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The secondary could be a weak link in the Washington Commanders’ defense this season if Emmanuel Forbes does not show signs of improvement this season and the improvement will need to begin in training camp.
