Wake Forest QB Mitch Griffis Enters Transfer Portal
Based on how the season went, it isn’t surprising to see Griffis enter the portal. He was the starting quarterback for 10 games but was then benched during the November 11th loss to NC State. He did not appear in the final two games. Griffis had decent stats with 1,553 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and seven interceptions while rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked a ton racking up 34 sacks in 10 games. For another team, Griffis has two years of eligibility remaining.
Lots Of Quarterback Movement
We’ve seen a lot of quarterbacks enter the portal in the last 24 hours. A lot of them, like Griffis, are graduate transfers. Programs that have young quarterback rooms often love to bring in these quarterbacks as they have starting experience and can plug into a ready-to-win roster. For the player, it is an opportunity for them to play for a top-tier program and possibly have a shot at the College Football Playoff. It will be interesting to see where all of these quarterbacks end up once the dust settles.
Wake Forest will be looking for some new quarterbacks after Mitch Griffis and others leave. It is the nature of college football and it is adapt or die at this point.
