The Minnesota Vikings were seeing quarterback Kirk Cousins put together what likely would have ended up being a career season earlier this year. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a gruesome torn Achilles. It was an injury that could end up finishing Cousins’ tenure with the Vikings.
Many believe that the franchise will look to find a new franchise quarterback in the offseason. That would leave Cousins looking for work elsewhere. Assuming he can get back to full health, he won’t find it hard to get a new starting job somewhere else.
Plenty of teams have been mentioned as potential destinations for Cousins in the offseason. Among those teams are the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and Seattle Seahawks.
Vikings’ Kirk Cousins Gives Major Injury Update During Week 14
During Monday Night Football on the ManningCast, Cousins opened up about his recovery from the injury. He seems to be making good progress thus far.
“It’s going well. One day at a time. hey told me that the rehab would be like the stock market where you’re in a general trend up but some days are better than others. I joke with them that since surgery it’s been a bull market. I’m just getting better every day and kind of waiting for that bear market and it hasn’t happened yet.”
Granted, this update sounds very upbeat. However, there is no guarantee that Cousins will ever return to his star form when he was healthy.
In the eight games that he played for the Vikings before going down with the torn Achilles, Cousins was putting up massive numbers. He completed 69.5 percent of his pass attempts for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Some even thought he could work his way into the MVP conversation.
Hopefully, the recovery continues to go well and Cousins can get back on the field at full health. He has been a great quarterback throughout his career, but an even better person off-the-field.
Expect to hear more updates about Cousins’ recovery in the coming weeks and months. If he’s able to get back to pre-injury form, there will be quite a few teams trying to add him in the offseason. He might even have a chance to be brought back by the Vikings.
