If the last few years have proven anything for USC it is having depth at quarterback is critical, and the Trojans ensured they would meet that need as they have added three-star quarterback Jack Stupin onto their roster. What makes this even more impressive and speaks to the momentum behind the program is that Stupin will be joining the USC roster as a walk-on.

Stupin Has Some Impressive Credentials
Hailing from Tustin High School in Orange County, California, the six-foot-two quarterback led his team to a 10-1 record. In total, he threw for over 1,700 yards and 22 touchdowns against only nine interceptions in his senior campaign. In addition, he showed some mobility as well, rushing for three touchdowns. It is the stats, his abilities, and his leadership skills that saw him obtain a three-star rating from 24/7Sports.
It Speaks Well for the Trojan Program
However, what may be the most impressive aspect of the Trojans landing Stupin is the fact that they did not have to do it with a scholarship, as the incoming freshman will be joining them as a walk-on. USC seems to be gaining momentum and gaining a reputation as the place to be, as Stupin joined the program despite the fact that he had offers from over a half-dozen schools including Pittsburgh, Marshall, and Houston.

Stupin Comes From A QB Line
The Stupin family is not alien to the quarterback position. Stupin’s older brother Josh was a former quarterback at SMU and is now a coach for Trillion Boys, an organization that helps develop many national prospects that go on to head programs at universities across the nation.

USC Needs Depth
With the departure of Caleb Williams, Miller Moss looks to be the front-runner to be the next Trojan starting quarterback. Backing him will most likely be UNLV transfer Jayden Maiava, but after that is where much of the USC depth drops off. Yet, this is nothing new for the Trojans.

Over the past few seasons, USC has seen several quarterbacks go down with injuries. JT Daniels suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of his sophomore year. His backup, Kedon Slovis, also suffered injuries that had the Trojans reaching even further into their depth chart. Even Caleb Williams suffered a leg injury in the 2022 Pac-12 conference championship game that limited his ability to perform and had many wondering whether Lincoln Riley should have opted to go to Moss after it became obvious that Williams was struggling. So having additional depth at the quarterback spot will provide some reassurance.

The Trojans Will Have More Coming in 2025
Stupin’s decision to join the Trojans also demonstrates he is not afraid of competing for a spot as they have another very talented quarterback coming in 2025. Earlier this year, as was reported by Grid Iron Heroics’ Victor Haltom, the Trojans landed Julian Lewis, the number two ranked quarterback in the country. His addition, along with Moss, Maiava, and now Stupin, will provide USC with the insurance that they will have quality at the quarterback position if injuries take their toll.
