The Dallas Cowboys finished with a 7-10 record during the 2024 NFL season. Dallas had another year of falling short of a super bowl title.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, many people questioned the Cowboys decisions to draft Tyler Booker, an offensive lineman from the Alabama Crimson Tide 12th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Dallas needed help at wide receiver, running back, or tight end, there but they went a different route instead. What did an NFL insider say about the Cowboys draft plans in 2025?
NFL Insider Talks About How the Dallas Cowboys Tried To Trade Down In the 2025 NFL Draft

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN talked about each team’s draft intel for the 2025 NFL Draft season. He said about Dallas’s draft plans,
“Some around the league believe receiver Tetairoa McMillan would have been Dallas’ pick if available. He “would have been an option,” per a source. But, quietly, a few rival teams thought Tyler Booker fit the Cowboys’ profile as a no-nonsense offensive lineman with pedigree. Dallas tried to trade down from No. 12 but was not able to pull off a deal.”
Matthew Golden of the Texas Longhorns, Tyler Warren of the Penn State Nittany Lions, and Omarion Hampton of the North Carolina Tar Heels were still on the board when the Cowboys were on the clock at number 12. It was a reach for Dallas to draft Booker 12th overall, but he was projected to go later in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys have been known for drafting offensive lineman early in the NFL Draft over the years. Dallas needed to address the skill position earlier in the draft. Because of this, they traded away a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver George Pickens. Getting Pickens as a number two wide receiver will be a nice pickup for quarterback Dak Prescott and also wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
