Jacksonville Jaguars star quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a gruesome ankle injury during the fourth quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawrence was stepped on by his offensive lineman after he was pushed into the quarterback by a Bengals defender, which caused him to go down to the ground in pain. He was walked to the locker room and did not return to the action.

Trevor Lawrence Injury: NFL Fans React
According to reports, the early indication of Lawrence’s injury is that it is an ankle sprain, which would cause him to miss some significant time depending on the severity. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the official status of the injury, and the hope for Jaguars fans is that it is not a serious sprain.Trevor Lawrence #duuuval

It’s not the ankle. He’s done for year, per sources.

So why did they let/make him walk into the tunnel with the assistance of two trainers, instead of putting him on a cart?

I’m going with fracture with his inability to bear weight. It looks like he is only favoring ankle instead of knee. Sprain didn’t look bad enough to warrant the pain he is in.

Some fans are saying that the quarterback will be done for the year, while others are saying that the injury is not as serious as it seems. Lawrence was not carted off of the field and walked with trainers to the locker room, which could be a good sign for Jacksonville fans. Usually, when there is a cart on the field, the injury is more significant than if the player can walk off under their own power or with some help.
AFC Playoff Mix
The Jaguars took the loss to the Bengals in overtime 34-31 after kicker Evan McPherson made the game-winning field goal with less than two minutes to go, dropping Jacksonville to an 8-4 record on the season. Cincinnati improved to 6-6 and is now in the thick of the playoff mix in the AFC, and quarterback Jake Browning, filling in for the injured Joe Burrow, achieved his first-ever NFL win tonight.
There is no official status on the injury to Lawrence yet, but the MRI tomorrow will indicate how much time he is expected to miss. The star quarterback has been on a roll this season, and his missing significant time would be a huge blow to the team. For now, backup C.J. Beathard will be the guy filling in for Lawrence until he can get back to the action.
