The New York Giants are looking for ways to improve their pass rush this offseason and one of the names that they could sign is defensive end Chase Young. Young was the second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders.
He was traded at the 2023 NFL trade deadline by Washington to the San Francisco 49ers. It will be interesting to see whether or not the 49ers bring him back. New York Giants beat writer for North Jersey Art Stapleton, posted this on his Twitter account on Wednesday morning:
Would be pretty wild if the story of the Chase Young Bowl came full circle and the #NYGiants signed Chase Young in free agency next week. Just saying.

At the time Chase Young was a prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft, a lot of Giants fans loved Young and wanted him. They felt like the win late in the 2019 season against the Washington Commanders was meaningless because it gift-wrapped them Young at the time, but they don’t have him anymore.
During that NFL Draft, the Giants selected Andrew Thomas, a left tackle from Georgia and now he is one of the best left tackles in the NFL, so it isn’t all that bad for New York.
The New York Giants Signing Chase Young Would Be a Fascinating Story
The San Francisco 49ers may not be able to afford to keep Young around for the long haul. He is only 24 years old and still has a lot of potential in this league if he can stay healthy. Chase Young last season with Washington and San Francisco recorded 25 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and two pass deflections. He has the talent to have a long career in the NFL.
In the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, he recorded a sack, had two total tackles, and played extremely well in that game for the 49ers. The New York Giants signing Young would be something that would come in a full circle for the franchise.
This would probably make the fanbase extremely happy and it would be a good move for general manager Joe Schoen. The only thing that is concerning for him is his injury history already. That’s one of the reasons why Washington didn’t pick up his fifth-year option in the first place.
The Giants wouldn’t be the only team that would make a move for Young. The Houston Texans and the Detroit Lions would be some other teams that could sign Chase Young and help improve their defense. If the New York Giants do make this move next week for Young, it would be funny that they did have him on the roster after all.
