Travis Kelce talks about another valuable player

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was happy for Patrick Mahomes winning the Super Bowl MVP Sunday night. But he gave his honest opinion about another player he thought deserved to win for their effort in the game.

The Chiefs came back to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 to win their second Super Bowl in four years. Mahomes had an incredible performance in the second half after aggravating his high-ankle sprain injury in the first half. Mahomes led scoring drives on every second-half possession the Chiefs had–three of the drives ended in touchdowns.

But another player also caught Kelce’s eye on Sunday night. Travis Kelce and his brother Jason discussed the game on their New Heights Show podcast this week. Tavis said Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts could have won the MVP even with the loss. Here’s the clip from Dov Kleiman’s Twitter account:

“[Hurts] arguably coulda had the MVP even with the loss. How many touchdowns? He was lights out. The way he With his feet, with his arm, you name it, he was playing his tail off,” Travis said.

Chiefs TE @tkelce on Eagles QB @JalenHurts: “He arguably could’ve won MVP even with the loss. The way he just.. with how many touchdowns, he was just lights out. With his feet, with his arm, you name it, he was playing his tail off.” (@newheightshow)https://t.co/1vOlW2W3Om pic.twitter.com/qYrc2F9XRA

Hurts finished the game with 304 passing yards and one touchdown pass. He added three touchdowns on the ground to go along with 70 rushing yards. It was an incredible performance, although one blunder made a crucial difference in the outcome. Hurts second-quarter fumble was returned for a Chiefs touchdown to tie the game at 14 points. That play cost the Eagles the Super Bowl and Hurts an MVP.
