Colorado Buffaloes star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter is among the most likely No. 1 overall picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hunter, along with teammate and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, will need a lot if the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders want to keep him around.
Travis Hunter wants $40 million from the Colorado Buffaloes
When asked how much it would take for Hunter to stay in Colorado and forego the NFL draft, Hunter jokingly responded by saying he would need a $40 million NIL deal to stay.
Hunter is currently the third-highest valued athlete in terms of NIL deals according to On3. Hunter is reportedly worth $3.3 million while his teammate Sanders is worth nearly double at $5.8 million, the highest NIL valuation of any college athlete.
The Ohio State Buckeyes, who are rumored to have spent more on their roster than anyone in the nation, reportedly paid their entire roster nearly half of what Hunter would need. Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Matt Rhule said the Buckeyes have a roster worth $20-$25 million.

Quarterback Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, signed a four-year deal worth $39.49 million. Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. said he has no plans of taking Hunter out of the No. 1 spot on his big board in a Forbes article.
“He has been No. 1 on my Big Board all season, and he’s not going anywhere,” ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper recently wrote. “The hand-eye coordination, ball skills, and quickness are all outstanding.”
