There is no quarterback in NFL history as accomplished as Tom Brady. The future Hall of Famer, who won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish as a player.
In addition to his seven Super Bowl wins, Brady won three NFL MVP Awards, was named to 15 Pro Bowls, and was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s All-2000’s and All-2010’s decade teams. Brady also has a NFL Comeback Player of the Award, three First Team All-Pros, and five Super Bowl MVP’s under his belt.
Even Though Tom Brady Retired in 2022, NFL Teams Still Wanted Him to Play
Brady’s final NFL season was the 2022 campaign, but that did not stop various teams from trying to convince him to come out of retirement. According to multiple reports, the San Francisco 49ers, who are playing in Super Bowl LVIII, tried to convince Brady to sign with them while their current starter, Brock Purdy, served as his backup.
As various NFL teams dealt with underperforming or injured quarterbacks in 2023, Brady’s name was consistently mentioned in rumors or suggestions for who would take the place of those players. Various rumors saw Brady’s name linked to the Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and even the New England Patriots.
Brady, however, held firm on his decision to hang up his cleats. He already had agreed to a massive $325 million deal to become Fox’s lead football analyst starting in 2024.
Tom Brady Is Trending to Become a Minority Owner of the Las Vegas Raiders
In addition to his new broadcasting career, Brady is also now trending to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. According to a report by Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network,
“At long last, Tom Brady is on track to be a limited partner with the Las Vegas Raiders — and officially close the book on his storied NFL playing career as he transitions to new roles as minority owner and network on-air broadcaster.
“Brady’s pending investment in the Raiders was recently altered to reflect the proper valuation of the team, and league sources say he has reached the threshold to clear the NFL’s hurdles and officially join the ranks of ownership.”
According to the report, Brady and his investment partner, Tom Wagner, are set to purchase 10% of the Raiders, which are valued at a little over $5 billion. Of that 10%, Brady is believed to have control of 7%.
The NFL Finance Committee will review Brady’s proposal in early March with the final vote on his purchase coming later that month.
