The Ohio State Buckeyes had a 10-2 record in 2025, and they were the eighth seed in the college football playoffs. Ohio State steam rolled their way to a national title.

There is a chance that things could look different for the Buckeyes in 2025. They lost a lot of talent to the NFL, and it will have to be replaced. One of the biggest issues for Ohio State in 2025 could be the quarterback situation. They will also not have an easy schedule.
College Football Analyst Lists Worst Case Scenario For Ohio State Buckeyes

Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports listed the best-case scenario and worst-case scenario for each BIG10 team entering the 2025 college football season. Fornelli thinks that the worst-case scenario for this football program would be finishing the 2025 season with a 9-3 record after winning the national title in 2024. Fornelli said,
“The horror of a 9-3 season! After a season-opening loss to Texas, new starting QB Julian Sayin struggles to adapt and never grabs a firm hold of the starting position. It forces Ryan Day to play musical chairs at quarterback all year, and that keeps the offense from ever finding its stride. The Buckeyes still overwhelm most opponents but lose to Texas, Penn State, and, worst of all, Michigan. They’re left out of the playoff, and suddenly, Ohio State message boards aren’t so sure Ryan Day is the man for the job after all.”
There is a chance that Ohio State will lose in Week 1 against Texas at home. They are more solidified at quarterback with Arch Manning at the quarterback compared to the Buckeyes. There is a very good chance that Ohio State could be playing musical chairs at quarterbacks in 2025 with Julian Sayin, Lincoln Kienholz, and freshman Tavien St. Clair.
If they are 9-3, it would also mean that the Buckeyes also would have lost to the Michigan Wolverines for the fifth straight season and that would upset this fanbase once again. With Ohio State winning it all a season ago, there won’t be backlash on head coach Ryan Day. The quarterback position could be the downfall of this team in 2025.
It would also mean that the Penn State Nittany Lions and head coach James Franklin finally took down Ohio State as well. Penn State is also a football program with championship expectations. It would be a major shock if the Buckeyes entirely missed the college football playoffs.
