The New York Giants will have the third overall pick in the first-round of the 2025 NFL Draft and the 34th overall pick in the second round. The Giants are figuring out what to do with their first-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

New York finished with a 3-14 record in the 2024 season. The Giants will be getting a fourth season from general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. The draft will be very critical for New York. What will they do third overall during the NFL Draft on Thursday?
NFL Analyst Suggests What the New York Giants Need To Do In the 2025 NFL Draft

NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky went onto ESPN’s Get Up on Monday morning to talk about the Giants draft plans on Thursday night. They can go in many different directions. Orlovsky said,
“The Giants have to get a quarterback in their first two picks of this draft. … There’s no general manager and head coach in a more difficult and worse situation than Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll.”
If Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are both off the board third overall, the Giants will either take Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, or Mason Graham with the third pick. It would be a major shock if they reached on a quarterback. Drafting Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart may not be the best option for them third overall or even the second round for that matter.
Schoen and Daboll need to build a football team rather than reaching for a quarterback. There is a lot of talent at other positions in the NFL Draft, and it is not deep at quarterback. If they were to reach on a quarterback and then Schoen and Daboll get fired after the 2025 season, then the new regime may want someone else.
It would be better for the Giants to draft the best available players in the first and second round of the 2025 NFL Draft rather than reaching on a quarterback. There is a reason why they signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the offseason. New York has many holes to fill on its roster and they are better off fixing other positions first.
