The South Carolina Gamecocks were one of the hottest teams in the country near the end of the 2024 college football season. A lot of fans were vouching for South Carolina to be in the postseason, but they were left out of the field.

The Gamecocks will have a lot of talent returning to the team in 2025, including quarterback Lanoris Sellers. Head coach Shane Beamer is looking to lead South Carolina to the playoffs. They will have a chance to be one of several teams from the SEC in the college football playoffs in 2025.
South Carolina Gamecocks Could Be Elite In 2025

Brad Crawford of CBS Sports listed one best-case and one worst-case scenario for each SEC team entering the 2025 college football season. The Gamecocks best-case scenario is for them to finish with a 10-2 record during the regular season. Crawford said about South Carolina,
“On the doorstep of the program’s first playoff berth last fall, the Gamecocks caught fire during the second-half stretch highlighted by three wins over ranked teams and Superman-like performance from quarterback LaNorris Sellers. More of that could help surge South Carolina into the national title conversation once again, but it’s imperative this team handles its business early against Vanderbilt and Missouri before the SEC gauntlet truly begins.”
It would be an accomplishment for this football program if they were to make the playoffs in 2025. This would mean that South Carolina could potentially be here for the long haul. The toughest games for the Gamecocks will be at the LSU Tigers, vs the Alabama Crimson Tide, and vs the Clemson Tigers. The good news is that two of the toughest games on South Carolina’s schedule will be at home.
The Clemson and South Carolina matchup could potentially have major playoff implications. If they finish with a 10-2 record in the regular season, the Gamecocks will most likely be in the postseason. It will also mean that Sellers had a very good regular season as well and that he may have his name as a potential Heisman Trophy finalist.
