The Cleveland Browns had a rough Sunday afternoon when the winless New York Giants came to town and beat them 21-15.
It was the same old story on the lakefront: Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson looked like he had never played football before.
Cleveland Browns Need To Stop Making Excuses For Watson
This was Watson’s 15th start in a Cleveland uniform, and it went about the same way almost everyone has gone over the last three years.Watson was holding on to the ball long, skipping passes into the ground, missing wide-open guys, and getting sacked.
It is the same old story with number four, and the Cleveland Browns need to stop making excuses for him. Ever since Watson came to Cleveland in March of 2022, it’s been nothing but excuses for Watson, and it started when he arrived with over two dozen sexual assault allegations.
Anytime Watson plays badly, it’s never on him, and it’s on everyone else. It’s also because he is rusty and hasn’t seen the field much in four years.
Rust could’ve been a factor in his first season in Cleveland when he played in only six games, but that was two years ago, and he has only gotten worse.
Watson is the worst starting quarterback in the NFL after the Carolina Panthers benched Bryce Young this week. The Browns will never bench Watson because he is owed $230 million.
Cleveland needs to change quarterbacks now because Watson is not the answer. The Browns still have a good team, but once their 230 million-dollar quarterback gets under center, it goes downhill.
The Browns have to eat the money they spent on Watson, let it go, and sit him for their backup quarterback, Jameis Winston. They will wait until this offseason to draft their new quarterback.
