There is nothing like the start of the NFL training camp. All teams have the same record, everyone for the most part is healthy, and you will hear fans across the nation saying this is our year. The Philadelphia Eagles fans are no exception. After making the playoffs last year and making some big offseason moves fans expect this team only to improve from the previous year. However, the start of the 2022 training camp for the birds has been a slow start for the most important position in all of sports, the quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Jalen Hurts the Biggest Loser at Training Camp
It has been five practices so far and to say Jalen Hurts has been underwhelming would be an understatement. Eliot Shorr-Parks an Eagles reporter for 94WIP and host of the Go Birds podcast has been to training camp all five days and is known to keep track of every snap of the quarterback position.
Jalen Hurts first 4 practices this year vs. last year:
2021: 47/67, 6 TD, 2 INT (102 reps)
2022: 45/62, 4 TD, 3 INT (86 reps)#Eagles

Eliot Shorr-Parks is notorious for having outrageous takes, but one thing no one can deny are stats. Jalen Hurts the 2021 season struggled with constancy throwing the ball in 2021 and it looks like Jalen Hurts is off to the same start in training camp as he was last year. Shorr-Parks has even said “Really strong 1st practice. But the passing offense has been disappointing the last two days. Very little success with anything beyond 10 yards.” The deep ball was a struggle for Hurts all year last year and it seems so far the same can be said about this year.
Jalen Hurts training camp stats Day 5:
10/17, 1 TD, 0 INT
His best day so far IMO. Was very good Day 1 but this was more encouraging. A few bad throws but mostly very accurate and hit his receivers in stride #Eagles

Yesterday, however was his best day of camp so far. He had a few perfectly placed deep balls and one was even for a touchdown. Constancy was the problem with the Eagles offense last year and it continues to be a problem early on in training camp. With two good practices and three mediocre practices Jalen Hurts still has time before the regular season, but only time will tell if this is in fact the quarterback of the future.
