Many Texas Longhorns fans thought that head coach Steve Sarkisian should have stuck with quarterback Arch Manning last season. Manning started over Quinn Ewers for a portion of the season because Ewers was out with an injury.
There were times when Quinn Ewers did not look good. Many fans thought that Manning was the better quarterback. The decision to have Ewers over Manning backfired when they lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinals of the college football playoffs.
Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian Praises Quarterback Arch Manning During Interview On Thursday
On Thursday, Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian met with Kay Adams. One of the biggest topics about this football program heading into the 2025 season is quarterback Arch Manning. Sarkisian said:
“Nobody Works Harder, not in the weight room, not on the field, not in the classroom, not studying…”
This is a very eye-opening statement. Sarkisian did not praise Quinn Ewers like this. Manning could bring this program to another level. He is very athletic. Last season, Arch Manning completed 67.8% of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also had a couple of touchdowns with his legs as well.
Also, Steve Sarkisian named him as the starting quarterback for the 2025 season on the show. That is no surprise by any means and Manning could be one of the best quarterbacks in the country next season.

It remains to be seen where Manning will be in Longhorns history when it is all said and done. Manning has a chance to do something that hasn’t been accomplished in 20 years: win a National Championship. The last quarterback to do that was Vince Young.
Young won a Heisman Trophy and was a special talent then under head coach Mack Brown. Manning is a special talent here and he has all of the tools to be successful under head coach Steve Sarkisian.
