Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has been very good about recruiting ever since becoming the program’s head coach. One of the players he heavily recruited was quarterback Arch Manning.

Manning was one of the high-profile named players in the class of 2023. He comes from a major football family. Arch Manning committed to the Texas Longhorns on 6/23/2022. He was also a five-star recruit coming out of high school.

Manning is one of the biggest names in college football. Steve Sarkisian spoke to Kay Adams on Thursday about what the recruiting process was like with him. Sarkisian said:

“I’ve recruited a lot of quarterbacks in my time… they can be difficult, they can be tough but with Arch it was so NORMAL.”

It is fascinating that Manning was not hard to deal with during the recruiting process. Coming from a background like Arch, people would think it would be a difficult time. That was not the case and that appeared to be a good thing for the Longhorns head coach.

Really interesting insight from @CoachSark on Arch Manning….

Talked about how normal the recruiting process was for Arch despite the last name and how much his teammates are drawn to him

The more we learn about this kid the more special he seems…#Texas | #Hookem https://t.co/JcCaXOK1sm

Coach Sark talks about the recruiting process with Arch Manning:

“With Arch, it was so normal… when you got here if you didn’t know who he was, you would’ve thought he’s just another freshman trying to earn his way.”

It is good that Manning was easygoing with the recruiting. This is probably one of the reasons why Sarkisian was able to get him to commit to Texas. After Arch Manning, Dia Bell may take over the reins at quarterback. Bell is one of the top recruits in the class of 2026.
