The Texas Longhorns last season made it to the college football playoffs semifinals for the second straight season and lost to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Texas is looking to get over the hump this season and finally win the National Title and it has not been accomplished since the 2005 season.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian will be entering his fifth season with the program. The Longhorns have a chance to be one of the top teams in the nation next season when Arch Manning becomes the starting quarterback over Quinn Ewers. Texas has a lot of potential for next season.

Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian Cancels Spring Game For This Year

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian does interviews ahead of the game as the Texas Longhorns prepare to play the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl College Football Playoff semi-final at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, Jan. 10, 2025.

On Thursday, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian was being interviewed by Kay Adams. Usually every year, college football programs will have spring games. This year, it appears to be different for Texas. Sarkisian said:

“No we’re not going to have a spring game.”

This may feel like a surprise to a bunch of people, but this might become the new normal in the future because of what is going on in the college football landscape with tampering amongst other things. There have been some other college football programs that are also not having a spring game this season. Texas will approach things differently during the spring leading up to the 2025 college football season.

This will be the norm everywhere soon

@CoachMattRhule out here telling everyone the way CFB is going then you have the haters hating on him, he’s proven right again and the haters don’t have the audacity to apologize.

Not going to let guys showcase so others can come offer the bag. I don’t blame him this will probably be the norm

    — Travis Harris (@TravisL_Harris) February 20, 2025

Texas is winning the Natty in 2026 now

    — Marc (@RealistMarc) February 20, 2025

Wait until everyone won’t hold a spring game.
A lot of fans will be pissed off!

    — NewYorkWill (@WillLeechow826) February 20, 2025

It is going to be interesting to see which other college football programs will follow suit by not having spring football games this year. It will not bother the Texas Longhorns by any means and they will be just fine when the start of the 2025 season rolls around when they have to face the Ohio State Buckeyes.
