Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning is the backup quarterback to Quinn Ewers. Ewers is potentially the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this season.
The Longhorns are the second-ranked team in the country. Manning has appeared in one game this season for Texas against the Colorado State Rams. In that matchup, he completed 83.3% of his passes for 95 yards and one touchdown.
Texas Longhorns Fans Looking Forward To Seeing Arch Manning Over the Next Couple Of Games
There are a lot of fans who love the Longhorns backup quarterback. He has received a lot of money from NIL deals. With facing the UTSA Roadrunners and the LA-Monroe Warhawks over the next two weeks for the Longhorns, there is no doubt that Manning is going to see the field in the second half.
The odds are that those games will be blowouts in the second half so Quinn Ewers could get a rest. They will start SEC Conference play on Saturday, September 28 at home against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. This is what some Longhorns fans had to say on Twitter about looking forward to seeing Cooper Manning’s son on the college football field:
Can anyone explain what Arch Manning’s reasoning behind going to Texas was?
As I see it, he went there, has fluctuated between QB2 and QB3, has gotten minimal snaps, but has flourished in NIL.
Outside of “last name potential”, what has his time in Austin done for his NFL stock?— Todd Krevanchi (@krvanch) September 11, 2024
I think Texas -35 is a whale pick. By the second half, arch manning will be playing and he tries hard.

Manning Will Be the Full-Time Starter Next Year
It would be a shock if Arch Manning was not the starting quarterback for Texas next season. Quinn Ewers is most likely going to be a heavy favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this year and be a Top 5-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
If Ewers wins the Heisman Trophy, those odds of him leaving for the NFL will be greater. There was a chance that he was going to leave for the NFL last season but decided to stay. It would be a shock if Quinn Ewers stayed for another season after 2024. If he did stay, what would it mean for Arch Manning? Would he stay in Texas? Well, that is something not to worry about for right now.
All the Longhorns are worried about is the present and for Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning to get better each day. Manning will get some play time in blowouts no doubt, but this is Quinn Ewers’s team for the 2024 college football season.
