Auburn came into the game ranked third at running the football in the conference. Jimbo Fisher and his staff were ready to make sure that their running game was neutralized from the start. Auburn got off to a good start as well, making the Aggies kick two field goals instead of turning them into touchdowns.
Backup Quarterback Johnson: The Key to Aggies Blasted Victory
After Conner Weigman sustained an injury in the early second quarter, with just minutes remaining before halftime, Max Johnson was called upon to step in and contribute. Demonstrating remarkable skill and composure, Johnson completed the game with an impressive 123 passing yards and two touchdowns. His pivotal performance greatly aided the team in securing a well-deserved victory. Let’s pray that Weigman’s injury isn’t that bad. If it is that bad, if I was Jimbo Fisher, I would start Johnson for next week’s game.

All three quarterbacks counted for 56 passing yards total for the gameHead coach Hugh Freeze even used all three of their quarterbacks and still managed to come up with 56 passing yards together. It shows how well Texas A&M’s secondary covered the receivers in today’s game. Even with coming away with 144 rushing yards for the game, it still wasn’t enough. He told reporters last week, “The Key stop A&M is to stop them on third downs.” It worked all right, but the defense was too much for the Tigers, and gave up seven sacks in the game.
Auburn will head back home, where they will host the defending nation champion Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs won last year, meaning by three touchdowns to win that game. The Aggies will host Arkansas next week, who, later today, will battle the #12 LSU Tigers before coming to College Station.
