Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens’ recent comments on the imbalance between white owners and black players in the NFL created a firestorm of reactions on social media.
Owens referenced race and politics in the NFL during his appearance Wednesday on The Jason Lee Show. Owens mentioned Kaepernick’s protest and said the former NFL quarterback was kept out of the league because of racism. He also talked about how powerless many NFL athletes feel about politics in the NFL.

Owens said many players in the NFL have unhealthy relationships with owners in the league. He said the fact that most players are black, but their owners are white creates a complicated dynamic:
“You look at the dynamics of that, that slave-type mentality, and I think over the years we’ve had several conversations,” Owens said. “I know I have with a lot of the guys who play in the league.
Honestly, these owners, the way it’s set up. They honestly have these players thinking that we need them versus the players really understanding the power that they have.”
NFL fans react to Terrell Owens’ comments on ownership

Fans reacted to Owens’ comments on social media. Many agreed with Owen’s point that there is an unfair disparity with white ownership in the NFL. But most fans seemed to think the millionaire was talking about a champagne problem.
Stop saying this. It diminishes what our ancestors experienced during slavery. Making millions of dollars isn't slavery.

Case and point. TO is right. It starts the day they are drafted. The Black mind must be nurtured when they're children or they will be docile minded in the hands of white supremacy.

Embarrassing to whom because his family gives zero 🤬‘s but why are we trying to go down this rabbit hole again with an athlete who people want to label “Un-American” behavior for not standing? Slave ownership mentality. “Stand for the beautiful anthem” is your view only it seems
