Chances are, Cam Ward is going to be selected by the Tennessee Titans as the No. 1 pick overall in the 2025 NFL draft, which is scheduled to begin this Thursday evening.
And if Tennessee does indeed take Ward, one question many people will ask after is whether he will be able to continue to sport No. 1. Ward has worn that number since he began his college career with the Washington State Cougars. When he transferred to the Miami Hurricanes, he still wore that number.
Will Cam Ward get to wear No. 1 if the Tennessee Titans draft him?

However, the Titans franchise had already retired that jersey. Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon sported that number during his time with the Houston Oilers, who later became the Titans.
“One right now, but we’ll see when I am in the league,” Ward told a TikToker during an interview recently. “It just depends on what team I go to, what number they got. So we’re hoping to stay with one. If not, I’ll just switch my number.”
As for Moon, he’s currently undecided about giving up the number for Ward.
“I’m thinking about it,” the now 28-year-old Moon said (h/t Paul Kuharsky.com).
A nine-time Pro Bowler, Moon threw for 4,546 passing yards with 196 touchdowns against 166 interceptions across 141 games (139 starts) in 10 years with the Oilers. Ward has a lot of work to do to get on the same level as Moon, but he has the potential to become a star in the pros.
For now, he will have to get drafted first before the topic about the No. 1 jersey number can be revisited.
