Patrick Mahomes recently discussed his opinions on the Kansas City Chiefs as the team prepares for another season in the NFL. Mahomes spoke to reporters through a Zoom call on Wednesday, discussing his team’s strategies for winning the Super Bowl next year.

Mahomes has been playing for the Kansas City Chiefs since 2017 and has won three Super Bowls with the team so far. In the 2024 NFL season, the Chiefs tried their best to win the Super Bowl and record the first three-peat in the league’s history. However, their hopes were dashed by the Philadelphia Eagles, who were simply too good in the finale. The Chiefs took a nasty beating and lost 40-22.

“The goal is to try to get to some of the explosive plays we’ve had in the past… We got the guys, it’s about me trusting them.” Patrick Mahomes said to reporters on a Zoom call, as reported by Harold R. Kuntz.

The Chiefs will also be looking up to wide receiver Rashee Rice, who will make a comeback after a knee injury cut his previous season short. Rice, along with the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, will be instrumental in bringing home another trophy for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs showed plenty of promise in the 2024 NFL season, finishing at the top of the AFC West, winning 15 games and losing two. The Chiefs were fantastic in the games leading up to the Super Bowl, defeating the Houston Texans in the NFL Divisional Round, 23-14, and then the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship, 32-29. However, their Super Bowl defeat against the Eagles was too heartbreaking to watch.

Patrick Mahomes Will Use Super Bowl Loss To Fire Him Up For Next Season

In the same conversation with reporters, Patrick Mahomes also spoke about what motivates him to do better in the next season of the NFL. Mahomes stated that the Super Bowl defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles has left a ‘bad taste’ in his mouth and that he is sure to hear recounted tales of his defeat throughout the offseason.

According to Mahomes, this in itself will push him and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs to do better in the 2025 NFL season. As per reports, the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to face each other once more in the next Super Bowl. Perhaps, this time around, Patrick Mahomes and his team will be able to redeem themselves.
