Tennessee Titans Expected to Sign Elite Running Back Tony Pollard to Replace Derrick Henry

The Tennessee Titans are expected to sign former Dallas Cowboys Running Back Tony Pollard.

Tennessee tried to sign veteran running back Derrick Henry, but when they failed to do so, they moved on to another big name. Tony Pollard agrees to a deal in principle with the Tennessee Titans.

Tony Pollard has spent the first five years of his career as a Dallas Cowboy. After a spectacular 2022 season behind Ezekial Elliot, he became the Cowboys’ lead back. As the starting back, he could have been better, averaging 1.2 yards per carry less than he did the prior season.

Early indication is Tony Pollard signed a three-year $24 million contract with the Titans. It looks as if the Derrick Henry era is over in Tennessee.

A source tells @DMRussini that the Cowboys, Giants, and Vikings also had their eye on him, but he took the bigger payday with Tennessee.million

Tennessee Titans’ New Running Back

After agreeing to terms in principle with them early in the legal tampering free agency period, Tony Pollard looks to be the lead back in Tennessee. Tony will join a new coaching staff after Brian Callahan is hired as their head coach.

Tony Pollard has rushed for over 1,000 yards in the last two seasons, but he hopes to get back to the elite type of runner he was in 2022, averaging over five yards per carry.

Replacing Derrick Henry will be no small task. For the past five seasons, Derrick has been not only the face of the franchise but also one of the leaders within the locker room.

An added dynamic Pollard adds is his ability to catch the football. He has had over 300 yards receiving in million the past two seasons. Derrick, a good pass catcher, could be at a better level than Pollard.
