With the college football season coming up right around the corner, there has been plenty to talk about with the Tennessee Volunteers. Will Josh Heupel’s troops find a way to work some magic this season? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, let’s dive into two insanely hot takes that just might make you a bunch of money.
The Volunteers will win the SEC East (+1400)
There are 6 teams in the SEC East: Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and Missouri. The only real competitors to the Vols are Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida. Tennessee will host both Kentucky and Florida at home this year in Neyland Stadium. In case anyone is unaware, Neyland Stadium is one of the loudest, most chaotic, and difficult environments to play at in college football. With veteran quarterback Hendon Hooker, alongside Cedric Tillman, I simply see no way that the Vols lose either of these games at home. The real test for them will come when they travel to Athens on November 5th.
In my opinion, this could very well end up being the game of the year for the Volunteers. Playing against a bulldogs team coming off a national title won’t be easy, but the championship hangover will likely be in full effect. I expect the Vols to keep rolling, and take a huge victory on the road, leaving the city of Athens in shambles.
I love the odds Vegas is giving at +1400, and would play this down to +1000.
Hendon Hooker will win the Heisman (+6600)
This is the sleeper pick of the year in my opinion. The 5th year senior is being watched closely as he hopes to put up another attention grabbing season. Hooker threw for over 2,900 yards, and 31 touchdowns last season and I fully expect a 3,000+ yard season. If Hooker can find a way to rally the troops of Knoxville, and put up a couple of big wins, then he will certainly be in the talks around the nation for the Heisman.
I love the odds Vegas is giving at +6600 and would play this down to +6000
What’s Next?
The hype surrounding this season is rightfully justified. The city of Knoxville is desperately awaiting for the start of the season, and so is the rest of the college football world. When September 1st comes, and 100,000 fans come swarming the city of Knoxville, the only question that coms to mind is: Can anyone beat Tennessee this year?
