The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are done with the Tom Brady era. Their quarterback situation looks a little bleak at this point. Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask will split the first-team reps and it is safe to say that it is not going well. The two quarterbacks have had some hilariously bad throws in the first week of OTAs.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterbacks At OTAs

You can watch the video posted to social media here. What is concerning is how bad the misses are. These are throws with no defenders or pass rushers. They are also not difficult throws. The two quarterbacks are missing the receivers by a lot. While the receivers are able to adjust on some of them, others sail right past the receiver. To be fair, this may be simply the first week of OTAs but still, it has to be concerning for Bucs fans. Or does it?

    Tanking For Top Pick

It is no secret that next year’s draft class has a top prize, Caleb Williams. Scouts are already raving about his abilities and what he could bring to an NFL team. Outside of Williams, Drake Maye and a slew of other quarterbacks are expected to be available. The Bucs seem to be okay with taking a year to reset and hopefully get their quarterback of the future. They wouldn’t be the first team to try this and it has had success in the past. The Bucs are hoping to get back into the NFC conversation soon and see taking a year off to tank as the path to do so.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not going to be good this year based on the video. However, it could end up working out for them in the long run. They won’t be the only team trying to get the no. one overall pick. Tanking is a risky strategy but one that the Bucs seem committed to doing.
