In the latest episode of Eli Manning Presents: The Undercovers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield swaps his uniform for a wig and cargo pants, and becomes the embarrassingly disguised superfan-Gus Swayze. The episode now streaming on Amazon Prime spans 30 minutes, and reveals Mayfield in disguise as he pulls pranks on some Bucs fans at the AdventHealth Training Center.
Getting used to his disguise, Baker approached teammates including Tristan Wirfs and Luke Goedeke, the latter failed to identify Mayfield with the new look. In a long-haired wig, an old-school Buccaneers’ shirt, and “sport” Crocs, Mayfield hovered in the group unnoticed. The fans were expressing their views about the team and ‘Swayze’ was listening to it all.
Baker kept up the act wonderfully as Gus Swayze, who lost a chance to make it big due to a knee injury. The big surprise came about during the longest throw competition which Mayfield nailed with his massive cannon-like arm that left a group of fans, and rookies at that, dumbstruck. Finally, the imposter was revealed to the crowd, revealing his true identity and leaving the group shocked and delighted.

This episode mimics Eli Manning’s prank of going undercover as ‘Chad Powers,’ and is a fun addition for NFL lovers. Mayfield, who has the spirit of a child and always liked to play pranks on his friends, perfectly fit into this kind of joke. When interviewed, Mayfield said that he was happy to play the part of the superfan and get to meet the genuine Buccaneers fan in this way.
Mayfield, playing as Gus Swayze also made fans laugh, but it was also insightful to see NFL players in such a funny, entertaining, and giving spirit. In the hands of Eli Manning, this undercover idea appears to be a hit, and the public eagerly awaits to see who will be the next to take on their alter ego.
