The Tampa Bay Bucaneers and Mike Evans have reach a two year, $52 million agreement with $35 million guaranteed per his agent, Deryk Gilmore. Mike Evans was expected to hit free agency next, but the Bucs and Evans ended the possibility of that occuring.
Mike Evans has been a key peice in the Bucaneers offense alongside Baker Mayfield who had a tremendous year last season. Mike Evans ended the season with 13 touchdowns, and 1,299 recieving yards. Resigning Mike Evans can very well be a great sign that the Bucs can retain Baker Mayfield as well. Evans has also been vocal on him wanting to keep playing alongside Mayfield, and with the way things are going, it wouldn’t come to surprise if it happens.
Seems the Bucaneers are showing that they are ready to take on this upcoming free agency frenzy. Now the attention shifts towards resigning quarterback Mike Evans. Although there has been shifts in the offensive coaching staff, let’s not forget who who they brought in as well. Liam Coem, who has already worked with Mayfield, is even more of a reason for why keeping Mayfield should be in the Bucs best interest. Mayfield has also said that if he were to stay, he would want Evans there with him as well.
