Throughout the 2024 draft process, the talk has been surrounding the top six quarterbacks. Spencer Rattler seems to be a quarterback that is going under the radar. Now the question is how high will Rattler be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Spencer Rattler at Oklahoma
Rattler started his career at the University of Oklahoma in 2019. During his first season, Rattler saw little playing time as he sat behind Jalen Hurts. With Hurts headed to the NFL, Rattler was the next man up for the Sooners. In his first season as the starter, Rattler had an incredible year. He threw for over 3,000 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions.
Big things were then expected for Rattler as it seemed that he was the next great Oklahoma quarterback. Unfortunately, Spencer did not have a great season in 2021. After a great start, Rattler struggled and was benched for top recruit Caleb Williams who started for the rest of the season. After the 2021 season, Rattler was scheduled to be the backup at Oklahoma, therefore he entered the transfer portal.

Rattlers new start
After leaving Oklahoma, Rattler started the next chapter of his colligate career at South Carolina. Rattler put up good numbers in his first season at South Carolina. He showed flashes of being a top-tier quarterback but couldn’t do it consistently. Most notable was his 438-yard, six-touchdown win over top-ranked Tennessee. Spencer Rattler entered 2023 will still a lot to prove that he could be an NFL quarterback.
2023 wasn’t exactly the season that Spencer Rattler was hoping for. the Gamecocks struggled all together and finished with a 5-7 record. Rattler was still able to put up over 3,000 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Even with a tough season in 2023, Rattler finished out his collegiate career with South Carolina and declared for the 2024 NFL draft.

NFL Draft
Unfortunately for Rattler, the 2024 NFL draft is stacked with talent at the quarterback position. In most draft classes Rattler would be a lock to be at least a second-round pick, but with all the talent in this year’s class, Rattler is being pushed down into the third or fourth round. Rattler started boosting his draft stock at the Senior Bowl where he won the MVP. Rattler then showed more of his arm talent at the combine along with his pro day.
This has led Rattler to move himself comfortably in the QB7 position. How many quarterbacks are drafted in the first round will determine where Rattler gets selected. If only four go in the first round, then it is likely that Rattler would be drafted in the third, but if five or six quarterbacks are drafted in the first round then there is a very good chance that Spencer Rattler could be a second-round pick.

Hopefully, Spencer Rattler is drafted by a team where he can learn behind a veteran quarterback and eventually get his chance as the starter.
