The South Carolina Gamecocks had a rough season in the SEC. While Spencer Rattler showed some flashes of greatness, the team could never string together wins. However, they got a huge boost for their offense Wednesday morning. Former Arkansas Razorbacks running back Raheim Sanders has committed to South Carolina.

South Carolina Lands RB Raheim Sanders From The Transfer Portal
Sanders has the nickname “Rocket” for a reason. While 2023 was a down year due to injuries, his 2022 season was electric. He ran for 1,443 yards and had 14 total touchdowns earning him 1st Team All-SEC. The Gamecocks are hoping that he can provide a boost for the offense out of the backfield. After losing Mario Anderson Jr. to the portal, they were looking thin at the position but the addition of Sanders immediately gave them one of the best backfields in the SEC.
2024 Outlook
The 2024 schedule is brutal for the Gamecocks. On the docket are games against Ole Miss, Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, and Missouri. The Alabama and Oklahoma games are on the road. Unless they get a massive amount of talent to come through the doors in the offseason, 2024 could look very similar to 2023. Sanders is a good first step and the Gamecocks have shown they can be frisky in the SEC.
South Carolina isn’t done in the transfer portal. They have been in the mix for many players and hopefully will land some more top-tier talent.
