Shedeur Sanders has received plenty of hate, even before entering the NFL. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes teammate, Travis Hunter, came forward to discuss this very topic, and stated a pretty good reason for all the hate that Deion Sanders’ son has been getting as of late.
Shedeur Sanders is the son of Deion Sanders, also known as ‘Coach Prime’. Shedeur Sanders followed in his father’s footsteps for his college football career. The young quarterback played for the Jackson State Tigers and the Colorado Buffaloes, both were teams where his father had coached.
“It’s just hating. They dislike Coach Prime, so they’ll try to take shots at us.” Travis Hunter said to Sports Illustrated in a recent interview.
Shedeur Sanders has proved time and again in his college football career that he is capable of great things. In his senior year with the Colorado Buffaloes, Sanders managed to throw for a total of 4,134 yards, scoring 37 touchdowns while managing ten interceptions for the team.
Shedeur Sanders was initially predicted to end up as one of the top picks in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. However, recent reports mention that the quarterback will be present only in the following rounds. Certain NFL analysts and scouts have criticized Sanders’ arrogant attitude on and off the field, which might have contributed to his position dropping in the draft.

Shedeur Sanders’ Potential Defended By Travis Hunter
In the same interview for Sports Illustrated, Travis Hunter went on to remark that any team that chooses to pass up on Shedeur Sanders would be making a grave mistake. Despite Sanders’ brash attitude, for which he has been heavily criticized, it is no doubt that Deion Sanders’ youngest son has got some crazy football skills.
“A lot of people are going to make a mistake if they pass him up,” Travis Hunter said about Shedeur Sanders in his interview with Sports Illustrated.

In their time together at both Jackson State and Colorado, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have forged a close friendship. While Sanders plays as a quarterback, Hunter plays two positions as a wide receiver and a cornerback.

Sander’s former teammate, Travis Hunter, is expected to be among the top three picks in the 2025 NFL draft. Several teams are eyeing the young talent, with Hunter recently confessing that he will only join a team which allows him to play as both wide receiver and cornerback.
