Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders, who has led the Buffaloes to a bowl bid in his second year as their quarterback, discussed what it would take for him to forego the draft for another year and stay in Colorado.
Shedeur Sanders wants $10 million to stay with the Colorado Buffaloes
Sanders was talking to teammate Omarion Miller when he joked around about what it would take to keep him out of the 2025 NFL Draft.
“They said $10 mill bro… I’ll be back.”

Sanders is currently one of the highest-valued college athletes when it comes to NIL valuation. According to On3, his $6.2 million valuation is No. 1 for college athletes. The next highest NIL valuation in college football belongs to Sanders’ teammate and two-way Heisman candidate Travis Hunter.
Hunter has an NIL valuation of $3.4 million, meaning Sanders’ NIL valuation is nearly double that of the next highest-valued player in college football. If he were to lock in a $10 million NIL deal, he would be at nearly triple that of the next highest-valued player in the nation.
Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders’ has backed up his valuation with his play on the field
While his status as the son of an NFL legend and Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders plays a large role in his massive valuation, his play on the field has lived up to the absurd standards set for him by the media since suffering a disastrous loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers early in the season.
Against the Huskers, Sanders tied his season-low for completions, threw a pick-six, and had his lowest completion rate of the season. Since then, Sanders has only suffered one loss in which he threw for nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns on an 85% completion rate.
On the season, Sanders has thrown 21 touchdowns and 2,591 yards at a 73.3% completion rate with just six interceptions. While Sanders only threw three interceptions in 2023, he is just six touchdowns and about 600 yards away from passing his marks for that season.
The Buffaloes are going bowling and would likely need some help from around the country along with a perfect finish to the season if they want to sneak into the College Football Playoff. Now, the Buffaloes will have to ask themselves if an NFL-ready QB in his third year of Power Five/Four competition is worth a $10 million price tag.
