Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay sent a “tough” message to four-time All-Pro Darius Leonard after the linebacker was cut Tuesday. Leonard broke the news he was parting with the team on his X account.

The Colts made the stunning cut during Week 12, as the team is still in contention for the playoffs. Leonard has voiced his frustrations with the lack of playing time the Colts gave him this season. But the fact the Colts cut Leonard three weeks after the trade deadline was a major surprise.
Indianapolis Colts owner sends message after cut
Irsay released a message on X not long after Leonard said his goodbyes. Irsay posted it was a “tough business”:
“Colts Nation will always remember The Maniac’s palpable energy on the field with each tackle, interception, punchout and fumble recovery. Off the field, he’s a servant leader and assisted numerous families in both his hometown and the Indianapolis community. We’re thankful for Shaq and the contributions he made to our organization. We wish him and his beautiful family the best moving forward.”

It was worth noting what Irsay said in this instance following Irsay’s public spat with running back Johnathan Taylor this summer, where he said the league would go on without them.
It’ll be interesting to see where Leonard ends up on waivers. But the Colts appear to know they’ll miss him in Indianapolis.
