Right before a new NFL season starts, there’s bound to be several names that are expected to have a breakout run. For the upcoming campaign, one of those guys is Derick Hall and he’s projected to do great for the Seattle Seahawks in 2024.
Hall began his football journey at a young age. He excelled at Gulfport High School, gaining recognition as a four-star recruit and ultimately committing to Auburn University for college football. Throughout his college career from 2019 to 2022, he showcased his skills primarily as a defensive end.
During his freshman and sophomore years, he contributed as a rotational player, accumulating a total of 34 tackles and four sacks. By his junior year, Hall became a full-time starter, significantly increasing his impact on the field with 52 total tackles and nine sacks. His impressive performance earned him second-team All-SEC honors in 2021 and a first-team All-SEC selection in 2022, highlighting his growth and development as a player.
In the 2023 NFL Draft, Hall was selected by the Seattle Seahawks as the 37th overall pick in the second round. This selection was part of the trade that sent Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. As a rookie, he made an immediate impact by participating in all 17 games of the season, recording 38 total tackles, including 18 solo tackles, and one pass defended. The linebacker’s journey from a challenging start in life to becoming a promising NFL linebacker demonstrates his resilience and dedication, making him a player to watch in the coming seasons.
The Reason Why Seattle Seahawks’ Derick Hall Is Projected To Break Out Next Season
The upcoming campaign is expected to be a good one for Hall. According to an NFL analysis by Matt Holder for Bleacher Report, the linebackers is projected to surpass what he has done for the Seahawks in the past.
“On top of that, Hall showed a ton of growth during the preseason with nine pressures on 38 pass-rush opportunities and eight “defensive stops” on 63 total snaps, via Pro Football Focus. That resulted in a 79.5 overall grade from PFF with marks of 77.9 against the run and 73.8 as a pass-rusher during the preseason.
So, the arrow appears to be pointing up for the Auburn product, and he’s caught the eye of the Seahawks’ new head coach Mike Macdonald,”
Hall has demonstrated significant growth as he enters his second season. In a recent preseason game, he showcased his physicality and playmaking ability, including a notable sack and a disruptive tackle that exemplified the tough style the team aims to embody.
The sophomore linebacker hoped to enhance his pass-rushing skills while continuing to excel in run defense, positioning himself for a breakout year. If he does achieve that, expect a lot of heads to turn towards him next season.
