Imagine getting fined on your day off. That’s the current reality for Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman Joey Hunt. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hunt earned a $1,610 fine from the NFL and Roger Goodell for a brief scuffle with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.

Seahawks’ practice squad offensive lineman Joey Hunt, whom Joe Buck referred to as a Seattle “staff member” Monday night when he got into a sideline incident with A.J. Brown, was fined $1,610 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct, per a source.

The league states that Hunt received the fine for unsportsmanlike conduct. Hunt became the first Seahawks player to receive a fine since Week 14 when the trio of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, D.K. Metcalf, and DeeJay Dallas earned monetary penalties from the NFL.

Hunt did not dress for the Seattle Seahawks last Monday but still found himself in the spotlight during the primetime tilt. Hunt and Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown exchanged words on the Seattle sideline after the former bumped the star receiver.

During the Monday Night Football telecast, broadcaster Joe Buck referred to Hunt as a “staff member.” Hunt and the Seahawks had fun with the whole ordeal, with the offensive lineman wearing a practice jersey with the name “Staffer” on the back, during practice this week.

Seattle Seahawks OL Joey Hunt: Eight-Year NFL Veteran

Hunt, a sixth-round selection in the 2016 NFL draft, played his college ball with the TCU Horned Frogs. Hunt played four years with the Horned Frogs, appearing in 42 games before the Seattle Seahawks inked him to a contract. However, after four years with the franchise, the Seahawks released Hunt in the summer of 2020. He appeared in 20 games, starting three at center. Hunt signed with the Indianapolis Colts for the 2020 campaign but played in just one game.

Hunt reunited with the Seahawks in 2022 and has been with them ever since. He has been up and down on the active, practice, and reserve rosters.
