The Seattle Seahawks completed voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) last Friday and will have mandatory minicamp from Tuesday, June 11, to Thursday, June 13. Once minicamp finishes, they will have a month and a half off before training camp begins.
One of the more under-the-radar headlines surrounding the Seahawks’ defense is the number of defensive linemen they will keep on their 53-man roster.
The Seattle Seahawks defensive line room is up for grabs

Leonard Williams, Jarran Reed, Dre’Mont Jones, and Byron Murphy II are a lock for the roster, while the last spot/s are up for grabs. Notable players who will compete for a roster spot include Johnathan Hankins, Mike Morris, and Cameron Young, to name a few.
The Seahawks reworked the contract of their veteran defensive lineman.
The Seahawks reworked the contract of their defensive lineman

According to Brady Henderson of ESPN, the Seahawks reworked Jarran Reed’s contract by converting $530K of his incentives into his base salary.
The Seahawks tweaked DT Jarran Reed’s contract, per source. I’ll post the full details after practice, but they essentially took $530K he could’ve made via incentives this year and made it part of the base value. The max value remains the same, and it’s all non-guaranteed.

As a result, his base salary rose from $3.96 million to $3.98 million, his cap hit rose from $6.34 million to $6.47 million, and his incentives dropped from $900K to $370K for 2024.
Also, he still has his original $510K in per-game bonuses tied to being on the active roster for each game. Finally, he can earn up to $370K in incentives for performance escalators as follows:
-
-
- $185K with eight or more sacks.
- $370K with ten or more sacks.
