The Seattle Seahawks will begin a new era next season, with Pete Carroll’s tenure ending after 14 years and one Super Bowl Championship. His successor, former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, will take his first crack at leading an NFL franchise after a successful ten-year run with his previous club. To fill his coaching staff, Macdonald made another personnel move on Saturday. Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Seahawks front office will hire former longtime passing game coordinator Charles London as their next quarterback’s coach.

The Seahawks continue to make multiple personnel moves to begin the 2024 offseason. They hired former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier as an assistant frontman while snagging Ryan Grubb from the college ranks to become their next offensive coordinator. They also hired former Michigan Wolverines special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh under the same job title.
Charles London: To Work With Geno Smith Next Season
Charles London will join the Seattle Seahawks in 2024 as their quarterbacks coach, working with veteran gunslinger Geno Smith. London operated as the Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator last season. The Titans struggled mightily with London, throwing for just 3,067 yards and 14 touchdowns, both bottom-five marks. However, rookie quarterback Will Levis played well, throwing for 1,808 yards and eight scores against four picks in nine starts. Before Tennessee, London worked as the quarterbacks coach with the Atlanta Falcons from 2021 to 2022. The Falcons failed to pass for more than 20 touchdowns in either season.
Meanwhile, Smith will begin his third year as the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks after the team guaranteed his 2024 salary earlier this week. Smith had a solid 2023 season, throwing for 3,624 yards and 20 touchdowns against nine picks. However, he fell well short of his MVP-caliber 2022 season, where he tossed an NFC-best 30 touchdowns.
Seattle Seahawks: Looking to Return to Playoffs Next Fall
The Seahawks missed the postseason last year, just their third omission from the playoffs since 2012. In the fallout, Seattle parted ways with their longtime head coach, Pete Carroll. Under their new bench boss, the defensive-minded Mike Macdonald, they must improve on their 25th-ranked defense from a season ago. Opposing backfields dominated against the NFC West club, rushing for 2,352 yards and 24 touchdowns on 4.6 yards per carry. However, they did perform better in the secondary, holding opposing passers to just 19 touchdowns.
