Tonight’s Saturday Night Football matchup features a heavy weight bout between two of the hottest teams in the league, the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams have already eclipsed the double digit win mark through their nearly unstoppable offenses. Expect tonight’s matchup to be a real barn burner with the possibility of over 65 combined points. The injury report is light, but could make a drastic impact tonight. Lions @ Cowboys Injury Report
Detroit Lions
Cameron Sutton: Although not ruled out, Detroit’s No. 1 cornerback is questionable due to a toe injury and did not practice at all this week. He’s been inconsistent to say the least this year, with a coverage grade of 60.2. If he doesn’t play, Jerry Jacobs would likely be responsible for covering CeeDee Lamb. If this is the case, expect a near 150 yard performance and a touchdown for the Cowboys’ star receiver.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson: Gardner-Johnson is one of the better safeties in the league, but hasn’t played since week two after he tore his pec. Backup Ifeatu Melifonwu has continued to improve in his absence. Although he’s not great in coverage, he thrives in tackling and occasional pass rush situations. With Melifonwu playing, expect slightly worse down field coverage but better tackling in the box.
James Houston IV: Similar to Gardner-Johnson, Houston IV hasn’t played since early this season. Before he got hurt, he seemed to be the best pass rush option opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Houston has been sorely missed, as starting rush end John Cominsky has only two sacks on the season. With Houston IV still out, look for Dak’s pocket to be relatively clean outside a couple pressures from Hutchinson.
Dallas Cowboys
Jonathan Hankins: Knee and ankle injuries will continue to keep the Cowboys’ starting nose tackle sidelined. Backup Mazi Smith is slowly showing improvement, but is still an average at best player on the league’s 17th best rush defense. With how dominant the Lions’ offensive line and running game is, expect Dallas to struggle stopping it. Look for good games from both Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
